About

Joseph D. Paul is a Walton County, Florida native. He was a Military Police Office in the U.S. Army and later specialized as a Military Working Dog Handler. After his military service, Mr. Paul continued his calling of service to others by becoming a Walton County Deputy Sheriff. He served the Sheriff’s Department from 2006 – 2020, working in several different areas including as an investigator. After graduating from Mississippi College School of Law in 2023, he gained invaluable experience by working as an Assistant State Attorney, Assistant Public Defender and as a family law associate attorney. These opportunities afforded Mr. Paul further insight into the criminal defense system further enhancing his extensive experience as a Deputy Sheriff. Mr. Paul joined Chesser & Barr in November 2025, where his practice focuses on criminal defense, DUI, family law and estate planning & probate.
