Wills, Probate and Elder Law in Northwest Florida
The Law Offices of Chesser & Barr, P.A. provides efficient and affordable services in probate, estate administration and planning, and elder law. We also welcome out-of-state clients with probate matters in Florida.
- Estate Planning and Trusts - We individualize the documents you need to ensure that your wishes are respected in the event of your death or incapacity: a will, powers of attorney for your business and financial affairs, health care power of attorney, a living will, and guardianship declarations for minor children. Our lawyers can also help you place your assets in a trust to: protect assets from creditors, minimize estate taxes, bypass probate, fund a charity or provide for a child with special needs.
- Elder Law - We advise on gifting and transfers of assets, long-term care insurance and investments in anticipation of nursing home or assisted living care, including planning to preserve eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
- Estate and Trust Administration - The probate process can be complicated and time-consuming. We represent executors and trustees in settling an estate or administering a trust. We assist in inventory, payment of debts and liquidation of assets, distributions to beneficiaries, and the paperwork of tax returns, accounting and reporting.
- Probate Litigation - We represent beneficiaries, excluded heirs or representatives of the estate in will contests: (a) if you are being cut out of an inheritance, (b) if a relative is asserting a questionable claim against the estate or (c) you are accused of fraud or misappropriating assets.
